We ordered this when our new mattress was firmer than we were used to. It adds a nice amount of cushion, though isn’t pillowy–more of a ‘firm’ softness. We fluff it (lift, turn, lift turn and repeat) whenever we change the bedding to help keep it soft. It feels pleasantly warm when we are cold and cool when we are too warm. We never feel sweaty on it. For those who wonder, the outside cotton is organic, as is the wool. The wool isn’t separated by stitching, but stays in place because of individual ‘tucks’ through the topper. [Review from Overstock]

Heavenly. I usually sleep 6-7 hours without an alarm, but the first night I slept on this I slept FIFTEEN hours. Haven’t had it long, so I don’t know if it compresses/mats down like a cotton futon, but so far I love it. Seriously, my only complaint is that it’s way more depressing to get out of bed in the morning. PS: There is a wool smell when you first open it. I doubt the reviews posted on this site because they all reflect the same date of yesterday. [Bio Sleep Concept Reply] From time to time we copy reviews over from all the sites we sell our products on. When we do this the reviews are saved with the date we did the import and marked with the site they were imported from.
There is a slight farm smell but that does go away eventually. This is super comfortable, we bought it to ease a too hard foam mattress in a box. The stuffing does compact where you sleep so you do need to rotate and flip this, I would say every time you change the sheets. With the compression, it’s not as comfy as it was at first, but still better than any other topper we’ve tried. The main drawback to this which curiously nobody else has mentioned, is that there are sharp pieces that poke out of the topper and stab you while sleeping. We contacted biosleepconcept and they sent a replacement, but the second one is the exact same way. Little black pieces, almost like the wool was laid on the barn floor with straw and never separated…feather toppers can do the same thing so we are just dealing with it, but it wasn’t expected. We put a thin mattress protector over the wool topper and that did help cut down on the sharp pieces poking through the sheets. Overall this is the comfiest topper we’ve tried.

Shipping was ridiculously fast, which was a pleasant surprise. I bought the 3 inch mattress topper to use like a shikibuton and it does the job great. Super light weight and easy to move. The wool compresses so it’s not totally 3 inches, but that’s to be expected. If I could redo I would probably go for the 4 inch futon which would compress to a 3 inch futon in time. But I am still happy. On the floor alone it’s kind of the same feel as camping, on a mattress I think it would feel like sleeping on a big pillow. One thing to note is that wool has a particular smell. When I first opened the box it reeked like a farm, but once it airs out it has a light and pleasant “petting zoo” kind of smell. It’s not super noticable and I actually really like it.
